Happy Hour Week in OC starts Sunday with a fun kick-off party at SOL Cocina in Newport Beach from 4 to 6 p.m. Just RSVP here if you want to attend. Restaurants, bars, pubs and breweries throughout Orange County are mixing and pouring their best drinks and offering tasty appetizers for this first-time event. Some restaurants will be following themes, including a “haunted happy hour” or offering “happy hour, all day…all week.” For all you need to know, including participating establishments and special bar menus for both food and drinks, check here.
Some of our favorites include the Bluewater Grill in Newport Beach and Tustin. It’s serving all day, all week small plate selections including Bluewater garlic fries, burger slider, calamari burger slider, a pair of oyster shooters, and grilled fish tacos at $4 each, and drink specials in the bar only. 630 Lido Park Drive. In Newport Beach, 949.675.3474, and 2409 Park Avenue at the District in Tustin. 714.258.3474.
The Sundried Tomato in Laguna Beach, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano is offering specials from 2 to 7 p.m. Try a Halloween-inspired Karamel Apple martini with Sobieski Karamel Vodka, Apple Pucker and Godiva Chocolate Liqueur with a caramel rim ($5). Draft beers, well drinks cost $6. Delicious appetizers ($6) include crispy blackened chicken spring rolls with honey-cilantro pesto; braised beef sliders with portobello, goat cheese; and herb pepper goat cheese & sundried tomato hummus duo with toast points and water crackers. 361 Forest Ave. in Laguna Beach. 949.494.3312.
31781 Camino Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano. 949.661.1167. 821 Via Suerte in San Clemente. 949.388.5757.
And No Ka Oi in Huntington Beach is offering a Happy Hour menu from noon to close daily. All beer costs just $3; and all specialty drinks are ½ off. Try a specialty martini with a half order of coconut shrimp ($10); a beer with your choice of small nachos or half Kahlua pork quesadilla ($10); or a beer with Kahlua pork sliders or shrimp and vegetable tempura ($5); and a baby killer Mai Tai with three mahi mahi fish tacos ($5). 215 1/2 Main Street in Huntington Beach. 714.960.8300.
Home Tour!
You can tour seven incredible homes that best reflect Corona del Mar’s lifestyle at the 37th Annual Corona del Mar Home Tour on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The tour includes breakfast, a gourmet lunch and a closing reception. The event—always a sellout—is the only fundraiser for the Corona del Mar Middle and High School PTA. Proceeds benefit school’s activities, from the arts to special academic programs.
The homes reflect the owners’ individual styles. There’s a home built for its owners’ hypoallergenic needs with green materials; one that that represents the owner’s Italian heritage; a beach lifestyle; and one with peaceful, modern decors.
The morning starts with a light breakfast at Cafe Beau Soleil in Fashion Island from 8 to 10 a.m.; a lunch catered by Pascal’s at Sherman Library & Gardens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and following a reception with drinks and snacks at Bliss Home and Design in Corona del Mar from 4 to 6 p.m. Students created art just for the show, as seen above by winner Dylan Tran. You can view other artworks here.
Tickets cost $65. Limos for small groups are available for $40 per person. Tickets are partially tax deductible and can be purchased online or at various local merchants. For more information, call the CDM Tour hotline at (949) 721-8220.
